I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE STEERING LOCK UP AND I HIT A CURB. I WAS LUCKY THAT I WAS NOT IN ANY TRAFFIC. I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE ELECTRIC STEERING ON THESE CARS AND NOT SURE WHY FORD WANT FIX THE ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE GET HURT.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING INTO A PARKING SPACE AT 1 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LUNGED FORWARD AND CRASHED INTO A FENCED BARRIER. THERE WERE NO INJURIES BUT A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED.

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle powertrain control modules and inspect the vehicle for any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for this issue and perform a leak test on the Canister Purge Valve (CPV).

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will flush the brake system with DOT 4 fluid and install a new brake fluid reservoir cap. In addition, the HCU will be tested to detect a possible stuck valve condition, replacing the HCU as necessary.
