GM had a recall for the failure of the electronic control unit of the wipers on their suburbans, but it did not include pick up trucks. I personally know of 3 other people who have had the same exact failure of this component.

NHTSA ODI report, 2002-03-18

The windshield wipers failed intermittently while driving. The consumer saw a recall that stated that this problem was recalled under recall #03V159000, which is suppose to be mailed out sometime this month according to ODI.

Consumer stated the transistor board that completes the connections to the wiper motor, failed on many occasions. The wipers would work fine on a dry/sunny day, but if it were humid/foggy, the wipers would fail.

The contact called on behalf of a 1994 Chevrolet GMT-400. The contact stated while driving uphill at night, she suddenly noticed that there was a vehicle at a complete stop in front of her.

    Remedy: K2 motor will notify owners and offer a full refund. The recall began on decemeber 17, 2008. Owners may contact K2 motor at 1-909-839-2992.
