TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MONACO COACH MONARCH SE RV EQUIPPED WITH A WORKHORSE W20 CHASSIS. THE CONTACT REFERENCED RECALL 09V110000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) AND STATED THAT THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED ON OCTOBER 26, 2010.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE DC BELTWAY IN TRAFFIC, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT STOPPING. PUMPING THE PEDAL GAVE ENOUGH POWER TO STOP VEHICLE. ABS WARNING LIGHT ALSO CAME ON. STOPPED VEHICLE ON SIDE OF ROAD. BRAKES WERE VERY HOT.

THE STEERING ON MY 2007/2006 WORKHORSE W-20 CHASSIS IS EXTREMELY/DANGEROUSLY LOOSE IN THAT IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE SAFELY DURING MINIMAL ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS OF WINDS AND PASSING VEHICLES.

R 20060522 — steering

CERTAIN CHASSIS MAY HAVE BEEN EQUIPPED WITH INCORRECT STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFTS. THE SPLINE CAN STRIP WHILE THE STEERING WHEEL IS BEING TURNED.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND, IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFTS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 22, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT WORKHORSE AT 1-877-294-6773.

NAVISTAR IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR MY 2001-2008 WORKHORSE W20, W21 AND W22 CHASSIS AND CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2009 THROUGH 2011 MONACO RV ADMIRAL, ARISTA, MONARCH, AND RIPTIDE RECREATIONAL VEHICLES

Remedy: WORKHORSE DEALERS WILL REPLACE ALL FOUR BOSCH BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLIES FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 16, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT WORKHORSE AT 1-877-246-7731.
