The contact owns a 2007 Kia Sedona. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, she was informed that smoke was emanating from the vehicle, after which she observed flames emanating from the engine compartment on the driver's side.

Our 2007 low mileage Kia had been parked for over 24 hrs. While sitting in our driveway not running, no keys in ignition, caught fire and burned to the ground. The fire travelled to my storage building.

The accelerator on my minivan would get stuck and not release. I had to throw the gearshift into neutral once to disengage it. I took the car to the dealership, they looked at it and said they could not find anything wrong with it.

    Remedy: Kia will notify owners, and dealers will install a relay in the main junction box to prevent power from being directed to the HECU when the vehicle's ignition switch is turned off, free of charge. The recall began June 5, 2020.
