Dear NHTSA, I am filing this complaint to formally report a serious vehicle safety hazard and to express concern over how Hyundai/Genesis has handled it.

About a month before the incident, the vehicle was fully imspected in official dealership, no issues reported. A few days before the incident, the wipers started working with the engine off; I scheduled an appointment for an inspection.

"Takata recall" I was in motion driving less than 30MILES/hour in traffic, stopping few times and kept a good distance. All of a sudden, I applied the brakes to stop but the vehicle did not stop and kept moving fast.

When driving the vehicle, even down the interstate at 70, the braking system and or the emergency braking system suddenly activate causing immediate pull over. There are no indicator lights are alarms activated.

    2017-08-04Parking brake17V359000 Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2015-2016 Sonata and Genesis vehicles.

    Remedy: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the parking brake switch, free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2017. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-671-3059. Hyundai's number for this recall is 164.

    2021-07-06Service brakes, hydraulic21V160000 Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2015-2016 Genesis and 2017-2020 Genesis G80 vehicles. The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module could malfunction and short circuit.

    Remedy: Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the remedy is complete. Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the ABS module fuse, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 6, 2021.
