HELLO, I OWN A 2009 CBR 1000RR ABS. I'VE PUT OVER 40,000 MILES ON THE BIKE SINCE I BOUGHT IT NEW IN APRIL 2011. THE BIKE PERFORMED WELL UNTIL DECEMBER 2013. I EXPERIENCED MY FIRST CRASH ON THAT BIKE.

WHEN APPROACHING A SHARP TURN MY ANTI-LOCK BRAKES MALFUNCTIONED. THE BRAKE CALIPER CAME BACK ALMOST TO MY GRIPS AND I WENT PAST MY BRAKING POINT BY SEVERAL FEET. I ENDED UP IN THE SANDY GRAVEL ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA CBR1000RR. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 100 MPH ON A RACE TRACK, THE THROTTLE DID NOT OPERATE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT DECELERATE WHICH RESULTED IN A CRASH. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED AND THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED.

SAFETY TIMELINE
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2007, 2009-2017 CBR600RR, 2008-2017, 2021 CBR1000RR, and 2010, 2012-2013 VFR1200 motorcycles.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the fuel pump module as necessary, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed January 3, 2025. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-866-784-1870. Honda's numbers for this recall are KR2, KR3, KR4 and KR5.
