'07 HARLEY DAVIDSON HERITAGE SOFTAIL -I WAS RIDING WITH A GROUP AND WE ACCIDENTALLY RAN INTO A PARADE DURING THE 4TH OF JULY. WE SAT IN TRAFFIC FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES DURING WHICH TIME I HAD TURNED MY BIKE OFF AND GOT OFF OF IT DUE TO THE HEAT.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HARLEY DAVIDSON FLSTC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HEARD A LOUD NOISE WHEN HE SHIFTED INTO FIFTH GEAR. THE DEALER STATED THAT IT WAS A COMMON COMPLAINT FOR THAT YEAR AND THEY HAD NO PLANS TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

SAFETY TIMELINE
CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES WERE BUILT WITH A CONDITION THAT PERMITS THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE TO CONTACT A WELD BEAD ON THE OIL TANK. THIS MAY CAUSE THE WELD BEAD TO ABRADE THROUGH THE INSULATION ON THE CA
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A BATTERY CADDY THAT WILL PROTECT THE CABLE AND ENSURE PROPER CABLE ROUTING. THIS RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 4, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HARLEY-DAVIDSON AT 1-414-342-4080.
