TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 HARLEY DAVIDSON FLSTC HERITAGE SOFTTAIL MOTORCYCLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE DISCOVERED A LARGE PUDDLE OF GASOLINE FUEL UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE FUEL CAP WAS REMOVED FROM THE FUEL TANK AND THE FUEL PRESSURE WAS RELEASED.

R 19990812 — fuel system, gasoline

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MOTORCYCLES. THESE MOTORCYCLES WERE BUILT WITH A FUEL TANK VENT FITTING THAT COULD BE PLUGGED ALLOWING THE CARBURETOR TO OVERFLOW FUEL.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE FUEL TANK VENT FITTING AND, IF PLUGGED, WILL CORRECT THIS CONDITION.
