WE OWN A 2005 FORD FREESTAR. THE SLIDING DOOR LOCK FAILED ON PASSENGER SIDE AND COULD NOT BE UNLOCKED ELECTRONICALLY OR MANUALLY. THE LOCAL FORD MECHANIC STATED THAT THE COST TO REPAIR WAS $600+ FOR PARTS & $300 FOR LABOR TO FIX.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPROGRAM THE POWER LIFTGATE MODULE TO REDUCE THE LIKELIHOOD THAT THE LIFTGATE COULD FALL FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 15, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FORD AT 1-800-392-3673.
