MY MOTORCYCLE HAS A PLASTIC GAS TANK WHICH HAS BEGUN TO EXPAND. THE OUTSIDE DIMENSIONS OF THE TANK HAVE INCREASED AND IT NOW DOES NOT SIT CORRECTLY IN THE FRAME, THE HANDLEBARS HIT IT ON TURNING, AND IT PRESSES AGAINST THE IGNITION SWITCH.

JUST AFTER SERVICING THE MOTORCYCLE AT 600 MILES IT STALLED WHILE SHIFTING INTO GEAR. THERE WAS NO PROBLEM PRIOR TO THE SERVICE. THE MOTORCYCLE TOTALLY SHUT DOWN WHEN SHIFTING INTO GEAR.

THIS DUCATI MONSTER S4RS MOTORCYCLE IS ONE OF THE MANY THAT EXPERIENCED DEFORMATION OF THE FUEL TANK AND COMPROMISE OF THE INTERNAL FUEL PUMP OF THE MOTORCYCLE.

SAFETY TIMELINE
ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE WATER IMPELLER DOES NOT TURN DUE TO THE INSTALLATION OF AN INCORRECT LAYSHAFT. IMPROPER OPERATION OF THE WATER PUMP COULD OCCUR CAUSING OVERHEATING OF THE ENGINE COMPONENT
Remedy: DEALERS WILL CHECK THE WATER PUMP FOR PROPER OPERATION AND WILL REPLACE IT IF NECESSARY FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 14, 2007. OWNER MAY CONTACT DUCATI AT 408-253-0499.
