THE OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM WAS DEFECTIVE AND FAILED TO RECOGNIZE A PASSENGER WAS SEATED IN THE FRONT SEAT DURING A CRASH. AS A RESULT, THE PASSENGER'S AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY IN A SEVERE FRONTAL IMPACT COLLISION.
